Fields of Mistria Cooking & Crafting Guide
How cooking and crafting work in Fields of Mistria — the Inn cooking pot, the blacksmith anvil, the global inventory system, and skill progression.
How cooking works
Use the cooking pot at the Sleeping Dragon Inn to open the cooking menu. Ingredients from your storage bins are used directly — you don’t have to carry everything.
Cooking is instant (no waiting) but consumes in-game time. Cooked dishes restore health and stamina, gift well, and level the Cooking skill.
How crafting works
- Blacksmithing: similar to cooking — materials from storage bins are used at the anvil outside the Blacksmith’s shop (northwest edge of town).
- Crafting is also instant but consumes in-game time.
- Forge tool upgrades (Copper, Iron, Silver) here using ore from the mines.
The global inventory system
One of the most useful features: whenever you craft or cook, the game automatically checks your chests for the required items. You don’t need to carry materials on you.
This means:
- Stash everything in chests — farming, mining, and foraging overflow all feed the system.
- Cook and craft freely — the game pulls what you need from storage.
- Don’t sell in a panic — half of what you grab underground matters later.
Cooking skill tips
- Use the free daily Inn meal — it restores stamina and doesn’t cost ingredients.
- Cook dishes for gifts — the foodie villagers (Reina especially) love cooked meals.
- Regrowable crops (Strawberry, Tomato, Corn, Peas) give steady cooking ingredients.
- Level Cooking at Caldarus’s farm statue with Essence — perk tiers unlock at 15-level intervals.
Blacksmithing skill tips
- Forge upgrades sideways — skip intermediate tiers; go straight for the tool you want (e.g., Silver Watering Can with just silver ingots + Blacksmithing level).
- Mine ore daily — the mines are your only reliable ore pipeline.
- Prioritize the Watering Can — bigger coverage buys back minutes every morning.
- Level Blacksmithing alongside Mining — both climb while you’re in the mines.
