Fields of Mistria Beginner Guide: Your First Spring

The short version

Fields of Mistria is a single-player farming / life sim RPG by NPC Studio. You inherit an overgrown homestead in Mistria, an idyllic village between forest and sea, and help restore the town after an earthquake while strange magic flows through the land.

Your first spring is about building a stable daily loop: water your crops, check the quest board, forage, fish or mine when stamina allows, and befriend villagers. You do not need to maximize every system in week one.

Day-one essentials

1. Tools you receive: On Spring 1, Celine gives you a Worn Hoe and Hayden gives you a Worn Watering Can. Use the Hoe on grass to till soil, plant seeds, and water them every day.
2. Shovel: Buy from the General Store for 500 Tesserae. It digs archaeology spots and expands your farm area.
3. Bug Net: Unlocked on Spring 4 by completing Luke’s quest. Catch insects for Museum donations.
4. Fishing Rod: The Worn Fishing Rod costs 500 Tesserae at the Tackle Shop on the Beach.
5. Free daily meal: The Sleeping Dragon Inn offers a free daily meal from the cooking pot that restores stamina.

Daily routine that works

1. Water every crop first — crops wither if left unwatered, and seasonal crops die at season change.
2. Check the quest board (Requests) — quests have no time limit, so accept them all.
3. Forage for wild plants and flowers — they sell, gift well, and fill Museum sets.
4. Spend leftover stamina fishing (easy money) or, after Spring 6, in short mining trips.
5. Talk to villagers and gift them — friendship unlocks recipes, discounts, and story beats.
6. Go to the Sleeping Dragon Inn on Friday after 6 PM to meet every villager at once.

Town Rank and Renown

One of your main goals is raising Mistria’s Town Rank. You earn renown by selling items, completing quests, and donating to the Museum.

Town ranks in unlock order: Wood → Stone → Copper → Ruby → Iron → Sapphire → Silver → Emerald → Gold → Diamond → Mistril.

Rank rewards are collected from the chest to the left of the quest board. Quests are the fastest renown source.

The Museum

The Museum is in The Narrows. Donate items from the book on the table. There are 4 wings — Archaeology, Fish, Flora, and Insects — and each set requires 5 items.

Donate as you find things: rewards are real, and completionists will thank you later. Items that can be donated are highlighted in the donation menu.

Stamina management

Stamina limits how much you do per day. The free Inn meal helps, food restores stamina, and going to bed early or passing out ends the day. Early perks that refund stamina on watering change how many hours your day really holds.

What not to assume

Fields of Mistria has no multiplayer — it is single-player with Steam Cloud and Family Sharing. The Steam listing currently shows English interface, audio, and subtitles; the 1.0 release added more language options, so check the store page for the current list.

Start simple, keep the loop stable, and expand into mines, ranching, and romance when the farm feels comfortable.
